Founded in 2014 in Encinitas, California, STUDIO MAR is an internationally recognized firm with deep local engagement. We provide architectural and design services for a select number of projects, dedicating intensive input and energy to each Client throughout the entire architectural process.
The Studio operates on the belief that "the architecture of a place is more important than the architecture of a time." The defining factor of architecture lies in the Client’s vision, expressed through the surrounding environment and climate—not the style of the era, the theory of the time, or the ego of the Architect.
Matteo Raspagni is an Italian architect licensed with the “Order of Architects of Rome” (IT) since 2008. He oversees every phase of the architectural process, from conceptualization to finalizing construction details, managing design, planning, and building. With a focus on research and innovation, Matteo’s expertise in applying his design skills across all project phases, solving complex technical challenges, and leading project teams contributes to the overall success of each project.
Matteo began his career by studying and working with renowned architectural firms across Europe, including Aires Mateus in Lisbon (PT) and Carlos Ferrater in Barcelona (ESP), before relocating to Encinitas in 2014 to establish his own firm, STUDIO MAR.
Since then, Matteo has been involved in and completed a diverse range of projects in Southern California, from small-scale art installations to large-scale urban planning. Although his work is now primarily focused in Southern California, Matteo has also lived and worked in a variety of international contexts, including Paris (FR), Rome (IT), Lisbon (PT), Pavones (CR), Barcelona (ESP), Sydney (AU), and Luanda (AO)
